Lemax Spooky Town - Wicked Wigs
Our second journey into Spooky Town takes us to something new for 2023... WICKED WIGS. Made of resin and standing 8" tall, 7" wide, and 6" deep, Wicked Wigs the first Spooky Town houses to catch my eye while in Michaels (craft store). The striking green Frankenstein forehead signage, complete with neck bolts, is difficult to go unnoticed. The Bride signage only enforces its presence more so. The overall style of the building itself has a little bit more of a modern-ish feel to it compared to the ones we've previously looked at. Like that of an old general store blended with an old castle/cottage. The electrodes protruding from the tops of the building are a clever touch.
As I said before, I feel like the green signage is the most visually noticeable feature, especially when lit. The green of the Frankenstein forehead and Brad hair really pops. Another feature that I'm partial to on this building is the indoor scene that you get via two different windows. Although the heads that are perched in the store windows are there to show a variety of wigs they have for sale inside, I can't help but to think of them being halloween masks, thus imagining the endless possibilities of Halloween themed items and costumes are inside that little building. Almost as if was a combination wig store/ costume shop.
The window lighting is much brighter here, being that they are now using LED's in the newer models. It really lights up the cobblestone sidewalks and gives a really cool effect. Also, on the outside, we get a fun little purple "Cousin It" looking character promoting a discount sale the store is having. Pumpkins with funky hairdo's and some wigs that were thrown out in the trash.
While this building has no soundtrack or animation... the strong visual appearance is more than enough to make this a definite pick up if you either build your own Spooky Town villages or even if you're just into Frankenstein/Halloween.
