The Final Halloween Decor Haul of 2024, part two: Toys and Action Figures
What has become an annual event, one final massive Halloween decor hunt, part of our Halloween Haunt event here at Cereal Creatures, continues with toys, collectibles and action figures!
The first one was not from the haul proper, but something I stumbled upon on Amazon. I don't do Star Wars, bu these characters in the guise of Dracula and the Frankenstein monster were so cool, we couldn't pass them up.
The next one was a 1313 Mockingbird Lane, our local toy store, find. It's an older version of the Metaluna Mutant in FunkoPOP! form from the movie "This Island Earth."
Blog readers will know, I picked up each of the color versions of the TMNT x Universal Monsters action figure collab from NECA. But the box art and black and white paint job on the figures made this offering stand out in a way that wasn't just a redress of the original product.
To date, I have not seen the Van Helsing movie this figure is based on, but when I saw a shirtless Frankenstein monster, it was an immediate add to my collection.
I have a plush version of Spirit Halloween's Nightmare Harvester and was excited when they released this year's exclusive vinyl figure. I picked it up in-store and even got it at a discount!
These vinyl Beetlejuice and Lydia figures from the animated series were from Five Below, but it took three different stores before I found one that actually had them.
Likewise on this Halloween II-inspired Michael Myers. I don't pick up much Michael Myers merch anymore because most of it is pretty ubiquitous, but the fire on this one, combined with his bleeding eyes reached that uniqueness threshold. The Beetlejuice light was an impulse buy, but these are Five Below finds, so not expensive.
Previously, I've said I'm not collecting many of the MOTU figures, except the ones that look really good or have some nostalgic factor. I love sea men, sea creatures and Cthulhu-inspired male figures--hence our own character in The Mad Boy Monsters series. This classic 80's Mer-Man, reimagined here, but with all the details of his animated self looks incredible.
Speaking of nostalgia, one of the first action figures I ever remember was Prince Adam with the suede jacket from the Masters of the Universe line in the 80s. Add that to one of my favorite characters, Battle Cat and in his pre-transformed state of Cringer, and you've got me. Add to that the box art, which in itself tells a story and together you have a great display piece.
