Halloween Haunt Decor Haul Oddities

A roundup of this year’s most delightfully strange Halloween Haunt decor haul oddities—from quirky vintage ghosts to bizarre pumpkin characters and pastel monster designs that redefine spooky season style.

As we explore the year's latest Halloween Haunt decor haul, there are things that we really like and things that just aren't our style (gnomes and disco, I'm looking at you). But this year, we've run into a few things that are both interesting and some of the oddest things we've ever seen in all our decor hunts.

The first item is this sad vintage ghost figure from Dollar Tree that looks like a Johanna Parker reject. When I saw this, I honestly thought it was an AI creation that had messed up the eyes and nose on the jack-o'-lantern. But it's not—this is the design. This was the only one left at one of our Dollar Trees, and they were sold out of the second one.

I kind of like the design and, as noted, they seem to be selling very well. Seeing it, all alone with the sad face, however, had my mind turning, and AI or not, it was one of those oddities that I had to have.

Our next item comes from Ross Dress for Less. They had a full selection of these 50s era housewife artwork that feature unique Halloween takes. We went back and forth on a witch over the moon and an owl, but went with this slasher who kind looks like Betty from the Archie series. In my mind, she's a serial killer who is carving a pumpkin for Halloween--but her cat knows what she's done.

This Frankenstein monster boy is a glossby figure from Ross Dress for Less. It's not really an oddity, but we wanted to share it anyway. He kind of has a 50s vibe, which aligns with our own Frankenstein character!

Like the Frankenstein, this scarecrow soap bottle (which has caramel spice scented suds) is so simple it makes it fit into the oddity category. From Dollar Tree, it was only one of two at the store and the least banged up.

Now, we're entering real strangeness with this Dollar Tree entry that we're not really sure how to even describe it. It's made out of metal and appears to be a pumpkin man donning a bowtie, diaper and either a rattle or sucker. Functionally, its head is a candy bowl or whatever you want to store in it. It's sturdy and absolutely unique (not a lot of diaper-wearing jack o'lanterns). The paint job, however, is horrendous. The blacks look like they were spray painted on and the whites in the bow and diaper are just slapped on in places. We're going to clean this one up with our own paint job at some point. But on an oddity scale, this guy sits at the top.

Our final entry is this gigantic Frankenstein candy holder. He's made out of a sturdy clay-like material (no styrofoam here). Coming from Ross Dress for Less, I loved the colors and designs, which reminded me of the canisters and mugs of pastel Frankenstein and Dracula boys from last year. It's probably my favorite piece for this year, so far. The photo doesn't do it justice--but if you see one, we recommend picking it up!
