New Universal Monsters figures coming? Plus, Star Wars Halloween

We preview new Universal Monsters figures that may be coming soon, and this year's Halloween Star Wars figures inspired by three classic Universal Monsters.

We keep our eyes out for ANYTHING that might be incoming when it comes to our favorite monsters. Imagine our surprise when news about new 1/12-size figures from 52Toys may eventually hit toy shelves. Set to have a booth at San Diego Comic-Con, we may get our first real glimpse of what appears to be Dracula and the Frankenstein Monster in just a few days. We're not familiar with 52Toys, but these are noted as being part of the FigLite brand. The characters aren't quite showing the mugs of Bela Lugosi or Boris Karloff—and they appear to have the girth of a bodybuilder—but the designs look great, and we're all about "Absolute" versions of the Universal Monsters!

Here in the Cereal Creatures crypt, we're much more likely to "boldly go" than do battle in a "galaxy far, far away." However, for the past few years, the folks over at Hasbro have piqued our interest around this time when they release Halloween-themed Star Wars Black Series figures. Two years ago, we picked up the Dracula and Frankenstein monster-inspired offerings. Last year, we skipped them, which included a Mummy. This year, the figures are making a three-way comeback with nods to the Invisible Man, the Bride of Frankenstein, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Not only do the figures stand out, but the packaging artwork looks incredible. We don't know who the Star Wars characters are, but Tusken Raider (we vaguely remember this one) is the Invisible Man, Togruta is the Bride, and Mon Calamari (really?) is the Creature from the Black Lagoon.
