It's been a hard six months of hitting the grind and hunting for the latest spooky things and now we think we've hit the final Halloween decor hunt for 2026 with Universal Monsters and vintage finds topping our haul list.

The usual stores have mostly slowed as the Thanksgiving and now Christmas have overtaken our hallowed ground. This time around we hit Target for the first time since the Halloween proper section came out, plus the closest Spirit Halloween had restocked and we found a few interesting things at the Halloween pop-up inside Goodwill.

We picked up a few things at Target (most were fall-flavored goodies), but this Universal Monsters "Little Monsterss" set of 20 stickers is something we hadn't seen online or in-store. It's good to see Universal continuing to push the monsters to new generations. These would make a great alternative to candy for trick or treaters as noted. Unfortunately, trunk or treat has killed traditional trick or treating. Or worst, in our midwest small town trick or treating is sectioned off into just a few blocks and everyone else is left out.

Sprit Halloween had a few Universal Monsters socks, likely from last year, still left over. In two trips, two months apart, I think we purchased all of them including this final pair of the Bride. And we finally found the collectors VHS box from Frankenstein!

Also from Spirit is this mini, baby Frankenstein monster. I've always wondered...do people remember what the Frankenstein monster is? Do they know he's a collection of body parts that have been reanimated with a criminal's brain? I know, let's make a baby out of that concept. Just kidding?

The Universal Monsters and some great art come to Hot Wheels at Walmart. I suspect Dracula, the fifth in the set, may be an exclusive for another store but haven't found it yet.

For the past few years, Goodwill has had Halloween pop-ups in midwest stores. They're not huge, just a couple of racks. The one thing you can count on is that you'll feel like you're looking at Halloween merch from a drugstore circa 1996. This is a good thing. And note, all the Halloween stuff is new, not donation or used. So, drenched in nostalgia, we sometimes feel a little bug-eyed...like this vampire mask. It's plstic-y goodness is from a brand called Fright Night.

If I'd found the vampire teeth pictured here in my Halloween stash from the 1980s, I'd have never batted an eye. Other than the warning at the bottom, the packaging looks like it came from Walmart in 1987.

These coloring books also gave late 90s, early 2000s vibes (they were actually from 2024). They're simple with spooky, incredibly weird Halloween-themed characters from that era. Granted, these type of books still exist, but look at that witch and the skeleton. That kind of spooky, almost menacing artwork doesn't exist on modern offerings.

Now, this book was not in the Halloween pop-up, so you likely won't find it at your local Goodwill. However, it does bring in the Halloween feels to another decidedly non-spooky holiday. Frankenstein Valentines is from 1976.

And our final pieces are not from a store at all, but from local yard sales. This Dracula cookie jar is from 1995 and in perfect condition. He originally sold for $21.99. We got it for $5.

And finally, this tabletop decor piece features a slew of trick or treatig monsters, also from the mid-90s.
