The Universal Monsters may be heading to the small screen in a streaming or TV show being written by Scream 7’s writer and director, Kevin Williamson.
Being written for Universal, Williamson described the project as something he’d set aside for Scream 7, but now he’s getting back to other commitments, including the monsters show.
Williamson told Esquire, “The one I’m writing right now is a show. You might call it an adult ‘Vampire Diaries.’ It’s based in the Universal monster land. I get to play with some of those characters like Dracula and Frankenstein and the Wolf Man and have fun there.”
While there aren’t a lot of details, we are most familiar with Williamson’s Scream entries, as well as one of our favorite non-horror shows, Dawson’s Creek. His reference to ‘Vampire Diaries’ was likely because of his involvement in that TV series.
While we love playing in the world of public domain monsters, it’s exciting to think that something reflecting the classic Universal Monsters, similar to Epic Universe’s theme park mythology, may be coming and that leaves us giddy!
